Frequently Asked Questions About Financial Planning For Women
At BetterWealth For Women we understand that money is often an emotional issue, particularly for someone who has experienced a life-changing event, such as divorce, death of a spouse, or career transition. These events can sometimes trigger emotional money roadblocks that keep us from reaching our financial goals. While most financial advisors deal with money simply as assets on a balance sheet, we help untangle the emotional things that might be keeping you from moving forward in your financial goals.
We do not manage assets. We are paid for our financial planning knowledge and guidance. Our focus is to educate our clients on general asset allocation and how to manage risk by diversification. Through a combination of coaching and planning, we strategize together to make your financial dreams a reality.*
We work hard at building a trusting relationship with our clients and make it clear that we put their interests first. Always. We develop long-term relationships with our clients designed to deliver a meaningful impact on their financial future. Full disclosure is at the heart of our service to our clients.
We strive to simplify the financial planning process and make it less overwhelming. We don’t drop a forty-page plan on our clients and wish them well. We deliver the plan in easy-to-understand language and visuals. They can use the plan as their own roadmap, or we can implement it over time, according to their assets, goals, and comfort level. There is never any pressure at BetterWealth For Women only information, guidance, and insight.
We take the time to really get to know and understand our clients and their families, and the people and things that mean the most to them. This enables us to help them envision what’s possible with the proper planning and guidance. We help financial dreams come true.*[1]

Before Covid, we worked either face to face with clients or on ZOOM. Naturally, with current COVID restrictions, we are working strictly on ZOOM. Everything that we do for our clients is still handled in the exact same manner as before, only digitally. The only thing we are missing is seeing our clients friendly faces in person.
All of our client’s personal financial information is 100% safe in our state-of-the-art client software “vault.” You have access to your account information and plans through our software with a two-step authentication process. There is never any worry that your information is not secure. In the future, we may opt for in-person client meetings again (depending upon your location) but will always have the option for remote meetings if you prefer.
We are a fee-based financial planning firm which means that we are compensated through a combination of fees for planning advice and/or commissions. There are basically three ways to work with us.
- FULL FINANCIAL PLAN: We charge a flat fee of $2000 for a full financial plan and recommendations. Should you choose our firm to execute a transaction based on your plan’s recommendations and we receive a third party commission, (please see disclosures and disclaimers on the home page) we will credit back the amount of the commission we receive up to $500.00 on the financial planning fee.
- HOURLY CONSULTATIONS. You can work with us on a compartmentalized basis with specific short-term goals or specific financial questions or issues. We charge a flat $250.00 per hour with a two-hour minimum. If your work exceeds three hours we will reduce the amount to $200.00 for the fourth hour and beyond. ( A good example might be cash flow analysis, paying down debt, estate planning, life insurance needs analysis, ROTH or traditional IRA’s or 401k’s.)
- FULL-SERVICE FINANCIAL PLAN RETAINER MODEL This model provides a full financial plan and on-going access to our services all year long. Most services will be customized for your specific situation and will include the following: A full financial plan, two annual financial check-ins, and plan updates, one in spring and one in the fall; customized monthly financial coaching sessions and goal setting sessions (if applicable ), accountability sessions, access to monthly educational webinars and workshops, goal setting check-ins, and other subscriber based-benefits. The cost of the full-service plan is $1500.00 (reduction of $500.00) for the full financial plan plus an annual fee of 1.5% of gross income (billed monthly), as indicated on your tax return.
We welcome the opportunity to work with you!
The first step in becoming a client is to schedule a call or a zoom meeting with us so we can get to know each other. Here we will discuss some of your financial concerns and get an idea of your goals. We expect this call to be between 30-45 minutes long. We do not charge for the initial call. We encourage you to ask questions about our firm, our philosophy, our pricing structure and how we can help you. We will provide you with some feedback. If you like what you hear, we can move forward.
Head over to our Contact page and call or drop an email and we’ll set up a time to meet or talk.
