Meet Lori
Your Trusted Personal Financial Planner

Lori Brand has been working as a financial advisor and retirement planner for over 25 years. Her practice centers on helping women navigate the special financial needs surrounding divorce, death of a spouse, or career change.  She specializes in helping women shift their mindset regarding money and financial security and specializes in protecting and growing assets throughout retirement.

I started my career in finance as an account executive over 25 years ago with The Travelers Insurance Company. I managed retirement plans for teachers, public employees, and healthcare workers. Later on, I held management positions with both AIG and as a Regional Director with Nationwide Retirement Solutions.

An entrepreneur at heart, I eventually moved toward my dream of owning my own firm and launched SafeChoice Financial Group. I focused my practice on everyday people, and everyday families. I work hard to help families uncover the reasons why they weren’t reaching their financial goals.  I began integrating coaching and accountability strategies into my planning. My clients noticed immediate results.

My practice began to shift when I started to notice certain behaviors surrounding money in women who were divorced, (or contemplating divorce) widowed, or in a career transition. These smart, accomplished women were making decisions about their own money, and many for the first time. They were uncertain about financial strategies and options. and some didn’t know the proper questions to ask. Others assumed they didn’t “have enough” to seek out the advice of a financial advisor.

Their needs resonated with me, and I with them. I too had recently divorced and was raising two young daughters, managing a full-time job and a side hustle, juggling bills, and maintaining a home. You see, you are the women I do my best work with, as I am one of you.

We eventually expanded and streamlined our services. SafeChoice Financial Group was acquired by BetterWealth for Women.

Now a full-service, boutique financial planning firm, BetterWealth For Women focuses specifically on the unique financial needs of women.

Lori is the founder of Women, Divorce, and Money, a collective enterprise of thoughts, ideas, research, seminars, workshops, books, coaching, and other related concepts that help women thrive economically, particularly after life-changing events.

Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.”
